This x1000. Forza's physics and car selection are good enough to have a bit of fun but some of the tracks are dreadful. It doesn't help that they have really been using the same track models since FM2. The most drastic example, sadly, is the Nurburgring.
Forza's ring is bad from the beginning. They choose some awful lighting, like they couldn't decide whether or not they wanted overcast or sunny. Whatever it is, it really washes out the colors of the track. Not that there is much anyway, because the textures are crap. I honestly think they just resized the textures they had from FM2. Then there's the track itself. It feels cartoony. It all seems a little wide, but I wouldn't really count this against it because I've never been there. What I will say is definitely wrong is the kerbs. They are ridiculous. Some of them are half a car wide. Combine this with the horrible looking textures, and its really pathetic.
When I play GT5, or even GT4 for that matter, I feel like I'm actually at the Nurburging. The corners are tight and bumpy, the kerbs are small and textured with rubber when appropriate. They even give you a nice sunny day to enjoy the circuit. I can't explain it, but everything just feels right. A feeling I've never had playing Forza.
Maybe I'm just talking shit though because, admittedly, I've never been actually there.
OK, now I was pretty drunk while I was watching the episode, so I probably missed this. How does that certain thing that you mention in your spoiler happen twice?
I didn't buy it. My parents decided to bin our old PC because it was 'too slow' when really all it needed was a proper cleanup. I didn't know because I was at school. Had I, I would've chipped in a few hundred bucks to make sure it can do more than just check email, but now I'm stuck in the current situation.
Just to add some salt to the wound the GPU in our old PC, an 8800GT, actually benchmarks higher than the one in this PC.
edit: I'm fine with any noisy card because I either run off a very loud speaker system or use headphones.
I recently acquired a new PC (specs). While the CPU is much beefier than my previous system, the GPU is abysmal. Pretty much the only thing I can run is LFS, but I crave a massive amount of DayZ and Arma III.
I've set my eyes on the GeForce GTX 660 (more specs) as it's pretty much all the GPU I can get for my budget. I was wondering if there is anything specific I should check/worry about before I purchase it. I know I've got the right PCI port and will be opening the case up tomorrow just to double check that the card is going to fit, but the power requirement concerns me. What sort of effect would only having a 460 Watt power supply have when the 660 requires a minimum 450 Watts? How badly will this impact my performance?
If there's any good alternatives I should consider please tell me. Any help is useful.
